Unofficial results are in from Tuesday’s primary election in Warren County, where voters weighed in on several key local races — though only 29% of registered voters turned out.

In the Republican contest for District Attorney, Assistant District Attorney Cody Brown secured 2,356 votes, defeating fellow ADA Casey Strickland, who received 1,886. With no Democratic challenger, Brown is expected to run unopposed in November.

Several school board seats were also on the ballot. In Region 1, five candidates competed for two open positions. Paul Mangione received 824 votes, followed by Bridget Schwab with a little over 660. In Region 2, Robert Cook led with 1,164 votes, while Jeffrey Labesky earned 565.

Incumbents in other races faced little opposition. Mayor David Wortman and Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts Aaron Uber ran unopposed.

In the race for County Coroner, incumbent Melissa Zydonik retained the Republican nomination with 3,145 votes to challenger Shawn Silvis’s 968.

Warren County Commissioner Ken Klakamp said the election process went smoothly, but turnout was disappointing.

“We’re pleased everything ran efficiently, Margia Hansen and her team did an outstanding job, but voter turnout was low,” Klakamp said. “We only had a 29% turnout which is a lot different than the last election of 78%, but things went really well and now we are moving on to the Fall."

All results remain unofficial until certified by the county.
